GOLDEN
ANNIVERSARY BALL
On November 5, Tri-City Hospital Foundation raised a
record $560,000 at its annual Golden Anniversary Ball, which
celebrated Tri-City Medical Center’s 50 years of delivering high-
quality healthcare.
George Chamberlin, host of NBC’s Money Matters, emceed
the evening’s festivities with entertainment provided by NRG. The
Legacy Award was presented to Congressman Darrell Issa in rec-
ognition of his humanitarian leadership and philanthropic service
to the communities served by Tri-City Medical Center.
Through the years, the annual gala has helped fund some
of the hospital’s most crucial projects. The $560,000 raised in
November is the largest amount ever and far surpassed last year’s
achievement of over $365,000.
A Worthy Cause
The funds raised will go toward the Foundation’s $1.5 million
campaign to pay for the purchase of the state-of-the-art da Vinci
®
Si HD Robotic Surgical System. This breakthrough surgical system
allows surgeons to performminimally invasive procedures using a
3-D, high-definition camera head. Patient benefits include signifi-
cantly less pain, shorter hospital stays, less risk of infection and
faster recovery. (See pages 6 to 8 for more information.)
Looking to the Next 50 Years
“In the last 50 years, Tri-City Medical Center has grown with our
community to become a regional healthcare leader, providing
innovations in medicine and patient care,” said Larry Anderson,
Tri-City Medical Center CEO.
Tobi Ferguson, the Foundation’s president and chief develop-
ment officer, added, “This year we are looking to the future—to
the next 50 years—as we keep pace in meeting the growing
needs of the hospital as well as the needs of our community.”
Those Who Made It Possible
The Foundation expressed a big thank-you to the 2011 Planning
Committee Chairwoman, Jennifer Paroly, and to the 30 volun-
teers on the planning committee, whose tireless efforts created
a memorable evening. The Foundation also extended its deep
appreciation to Honorary Committee Members Deacon Frank
and Claudette Mercardante (chairmen), Art and Lori Barter, Larry
and Cathi Hatter, and Ted and June Vallas.
